Hey everyone!
So I decided to come to the boards since it will be a fun place to hang out while I'm at work, and then I can focus the evening on doing actual writing!
So I'm Jessie, 32 years old, working as a receptionist for an American company located in Belgium. It's a full time job but I'm only a receptionist on Mondays, Wednesday afternoons and Fridays; and the other days I'm helping out in all sorts of departments with classification work or entering invoices at the bookkeeping department. Bit of everything, which is good for me.
As for writing, I've been writing for most of my life and it's something I do nearly daily. I think I easily write about 20 000 words a month, so Nanowrimo is truly a marathon for me since I need to up the tempo and look for more time to write. I know I can reach the 50 000 words, I just hope I can do it for the stories I already have running and that I don't start a new one.
I have several unfinished stories on AO3. The most recent one is The Lonely Empath - Rumbelle Storybrooke AU where Rumple is an empath who has lived a life of isolation, and how that changes when he meets Belle. I'm over halfway through and hope I can finish it first during November. 10 000 words should do it?
Then there is the Princess and the Knight - Rumbelle Enchanted Forest AU where Belle is the princess, Rumple is a knight, and though they are in love, Belle's father will only promise her hand in marriage to the knight who kills most ogres in the ogre wars. Sir Gaston is killing more than anyone else, and at the point in the story where I stopped writing, Belle got kidnapped for ransom and Rumple went to save her - instead of trying to kill more ogres to get her hand in marriage. So it's a bit exciting how those two are going to end up together unless King Maurice changes the rules. About 10 000 words in that fic should finish it too.
And then of course Heart of the Ship. I started it for Nanowrimo in 2013 and wrote about 90 000 words for it then. I love the story to bits and really want to finish it, but I need 50 000 words - if not more. So that's frustrating. It's an AU where Rumplestiltskin heard a different prophecy about being reunited with his son. Instead of getting Regina to enact the curse, he actually goes looking for Baelfire on a ship that can travel from world to world - but he can only crossover with the full moon. The prophecy he heard foretold him that he needed 3 things to find his son: the ship itself (which he got 100 years earlier), a crew (which he got a little later) and Belle. So when he finally meets Belle in the Enchanted Forest, he doesn't leave her much of an option to go with him, threatening to kill Gaston if she does not comply, and so she does. They get off on the wrong foot, but his respect for her earns her respect and before you know it they're traveling from world to world. While Belle slowly unravels all of Rumple's secrets, he hopes he'll find his son soon in the world without magic, but so far he hasn't found that world yet.
I am currently writing the Agrabah chapters - with big parts for Jafar and Jasmine, who are great fun to write since they are so very similar to Rumple and Belle in my story. I hope I'm not lingering on that world too long though cause I think I've already written about 7 chapters of that world and they're still not crossing over to the next. XD Whoops.
So yeah, now you know what I want to write this month... I'll be sure to set up a few chatzy's the upcoming month so we can have wordwars and fangirl about Rumbelle and such! It's always better to talk to others about how the writing is going. The years I've tried doing Nano on my own are the years I've failed. It always helps to have a support group!
One thing I don't have though; are days off... I always took days off in November but this year I have no days off. XD Sucks. I hope I can still do it.
