All the cool kids were doing it, so I figured this may keep me responsible too.
I finished 2475 words today. Now, I've never done this before, am I just responsible to making sure I get to 50K by the end of November or are there daily word counts I need to hit? Or is it just aim for 1667 words a day which translates into roughly 50k at the end of 30 days? #virginnanowrimo

congratulations!
As I understand it, you just have to hit 50k on November, be it you wrote those 50k in a day or in a month is up to you, but since its easier to hit smaller millstones, to keep you motivated, that's what the 1667 a day is for (this is my first time doing NaNo too so anyone feel free to correct me)

well, i made my daily quota with seven minutes to spare but I'm not entirely happy with my output today. It was like squeezing water from a stone today. Have to go back tomorrow and add and pad a bit, flesh it out more. Maybe ideas will be more forthcoming tomorrow.

Yup the goal is 50k by the end of November. You could write that all in one weekend or write 500 words one day and 2500 the next day. 1667 is just something to shoot for. If you write at least that much every day then you'll stay on track. When I've done it I've had daily counts that range from 0 to over 5000.

( i feel like this is a diary entry) Yesterday I got distracted on ancestry.com and researching my family line and got NOTHING DONE. Today was terrible, i think i just couldn't get through this arc. Part of me was fighting with myself that it wasn't fleshed out enough and the other part of me was like DEAR GOD JUST LET IT BE OVER.
After a whole afternoon of forcing myself to keep going back and working on it, I managed to hit a decent amount to equal out yesterday's zero. I'm trying to not let this turn into a slump so we'll see what tomorrow brings.

Whew. I know I'm being a "rebel" i keep going back and reworking things but since I'm planning on publishing as I go, I think I can afford to be finicky. OF course, when you do that, you start to rework things and delete things or is that just me?

Not just you! Though sometimes I rework things and add stuff too. But more often than not it shrinks my word count a bit.
And I'm editing too. Every chapter I finish, I go back and edit an earlier one and post it. But I've done that most NaNoWriMos!
